hi friends i cant start samba service on rhel5......
when i run the command #service smb start ....
it shows smb: unrecognized service
HOW CAN I start samba server ???...

Make sure you have root permissions, then try starting it like this:
Code:/sbin/service smb start
oz

HI,
it looks there is problem with ur samba service as beacuse of its not properly installed. So i recomanded u pls reinstall the samba server .
It will resolve ur proble.

i also had the same problem when i installed it for the first time. go to the server folder of RHEL and double click and install samba rpm. I did and it worked
