    How to install c compiler

Hi.. This is my first post to the linux forum and i need a help from it.
I have installed fedora 6.. and trying to install a music player through compiling and installing from source.. while doing that i got an error stating "no acceptable c compiler in $path". This might be due to not having a c compiler installed in my linux OS..
So how would i proceed to resolve this error...

    Hi and Welcome !

Fedora Core 6 is an old distro and its not supported by Fedora Team now. You will face a lot of dependency problems during package installation.

I would suggest you to install latest version, Fedora 11 only.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

You may be able to install it from the installation CD's or DVD, it is named gcc.

I too recommend installing the latest version of Fedora, before you spend too much time trying to get this one to work correctly. Since it is no longer supported, you will have to manually install applications using the source files. Even this may not work for things like drivers. The kernel has changed some since Fedora 6, and you would even have to compile your own kernel, if you wanted a newer version.

While this is possible, it would drive even an experienced Linux user NUTS! Unless you want to try and solve endless problems, get a the newest version.
