    wifi not working

    so i have RHEL 5 with kernel 2.6.18 installed but i am not able activate the wireles card,intel 5300agn.
    when i click activate in network config window it comes up with message:
    ***********
    Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
    SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

    Determining IP information for wlan0...SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory
    SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory

    *********************+
    this error message is shown at bootup too.
    the dmesg|grep firmware shows :
    iwlagn: iwlwifi-5000-1.ucode firmware file req failed: Reason -2

    can someone help me fixing this problem.

    can up post the o/p of dmesg here? ......coz from what u are saying it has detected the card but not created an interface mebbe creating an interface might help
