if you have lan card in your laptop and linux configured it .
then
attech the modem to lan card and go to
network configuration wisard
choose xDSL to creat a connection and follow this wisard.
it contain very easy steps.
if you follow these steps then you not required modem driver.
after making connection
goto network devices and activate your connection.

A modem would only need a driver if it was connected via USB, is this the case? Otherwise it should just be plug and play in the ethernet port. Also if it is USB, the driver should be in the kernel, you may need to use a newer distro to get better hardware support if this is the case.

You are using fedora 11, which is latest fedora. I am surprised that it is not detected. Open terminal and execute this code, post results
Code:lsusb
