    FC5 install issues

I already have the FC5 install disks and have used them on an old PC fine. I tried to install on a more modern PC and got a screen asking me to insert a driver disk. I have a few driver disks and tried each but it doesn't sound like the installer is even looking at the disk.

    Language > English
    Keyboard > US
What type of media contains the packages to be installed > Local CDROM
No driver found > Use a driver disk

Then it keeps going back to this screen. Any ideas?

I have tried various options like the following though I have no clue what they do (actually they appear to do nothing ) :
    • noprobe
    • all-ide-general
    • skipddc

My original aim was to have a dual boot machine with XP (already working fine) and Linux. The aim was to then upgrade to XGL and compiz and then generally wow people. I don't mind reinstalling XP at a later date as nothing important is saved there.

The spec for the PC is:
    • Gigabyte EP35
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
    • Saphire Radeon HD4850
    • SATA HD
    • Bog standard DVD optical drive

I guessed that FC5 is a little old for the hardware so I downloaded Mandriva Linux and that seemed to work first time. I guess the same would happen if I tried FC8 but Mandriva seemed to include xgl and compiz so I went with that. Oddly I'm still not getting the "wobbly windows" effects etc of xgl/compiz.
