No Internet Connection

I have a Compaq Presario F730US laptop that I have running a dual boot of Vista and Fedora 11. I have tried everything I can but have had no luck. When I boot into fedora my wireless does not turn on or work at all, but I read that a way to fix this on the broadcom 4311 is to enable rpm fusion and install the kmod -wl package. That being said, when I connect my computer directly to my cable modem via ethernet, it connects for a second and then disconnects. I really want to use fedora but if I can't connect to the internet it is useless to me. Any ideas?

When you change the device your cable modem is connected to, it has to be restarted, because the ISP binds the IP to the mac address of the device connected to it when you turn on the modem.
We need to know what wireless card you are using. Open terminal and executeorCode:lspci
if it is a USB wireless card.Code:lsusb

Thanks for the help! Finally I have wireless. I had the page from cenolan saved before this but I couldn't connect so I could download the driver. I can't believe I was so stupid to forget to restart the modem.
