    Host A/AAA records

    I have been trying to get the DNS server to work correctly and I keep running into problems. I have done every correct up until now. I am fairly new to dealing with linux on a DNS level. Can anyone tell me, show me, give me an example of how an A/AAA record is supposed to be written and where exactly where it is supposed to go? These are the error messages that I get

    OK, RH uses chroot env for the bind program. Everything should be under /var/named/....
    Can you post your named.conf file?

    In your named.conf

    zone "teitcuris.tyehimbaenteprises.net." IN {
    type master;
    file "tyehimbaenterprises.net.zone";
    allow-update { 10.0.0.1/8; };

    };
    You have statements naming the zone file, but the file is in a
    subdirectory. That's why the "file not found" error.

    So which directory does it go in. This has always been a little confusing for me. However, so were a lot of things until someone explained them to me. LOL. Your assistance in the matter is greatly appreciated.

    Just change those lines that refer to the file

    zone "teitcuris.tyehimbaenteprises.net." IN {
    type master;
    file "tyehimbaenterprises.net.zone";
    allow-update { 10.0.0.1/8; };

    };
    to

    zone "teitcuris.tyehimbaenteprises.net." IN {
    type master;
    file "tyehimbaenterprises.net/tyehimbaenterprises.net.zone";
    allow-update { 10.0.0.1/8; };

    };
    or, if that doesn't work, use the full pathname.

    [quote]
    zone "teitcuris.tyehimbaenteprises.net." IN {
    type master;
    file "/var/named/tyehimbaenterprises.net/tyehimbaenterprises.net.zone";
    allow-update { 10.0.0.1/8; };

    };
