    cifs Mount Problem

    Getting repetitions of:

    cifs_read_super: get root inode failed

    and

    CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22

from the following (sanitized) mount command in CentOS 5.3

    mount -t cifs -o username=mysusername,password=mypassword,domain=my domain //ipaddress/sharename /mnt/myfiles

Any help you can give will be appreciated.

Are you sure that the directory you have specified has been shared on the remote system? Also, you need to do this as root, or sudo. In my case, I usually use /sbin/mount.cifs directly, and make it suid root so non-root users can mount remote file systems if they are authorized.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

We actually resolved this problem by changing the nature of the share on the Windows system.
