CS5 Linux raid 1 not mirroring.
CentOS 5
Two 1.5TB seagates
so I'm about to board a plane at 3:15PM today and my server decides to take a ****.
I was trying to transfer files to my laptop but kept timing out I didn't know why, until I got back from work. Apparently /dev/sdc is hard resetting the link and dropping the dma mode down to 33. I think it's a bad cable but I'm not sure.
Anyways long story short I had mdadm setup about two months ago to mirror these two drives. But today when I unplugged the /dev/sdc, md0 automatically went to /dev/sdb but there's nothing on /dev/sdb except lost+found folder the drive has a valid partition but it was empty.
SO what gives? why didn't sdb have any data on it. mdadm said it was mirroring.
Right now I'm trying to get everything on the raid 5 4x500GB drives.
What did I do wrong?
btw 4x500GB are on a hardware raid.
2x1.5TB drives are linux raid.
edit:
I am never trusting linux raid again.
