    Dialup activation in Fedora 10

Hello, How do I connect my dialup ISP in Fedora 10? I went to System-Administration-Network and edited the Devices, Hardware and Options portions. In the Network Manager window the activate and deactivate icons are not highlighted. When I go to System-AdministrationI-Network Control I don't see my modem listed. When I click on the dialup icon on the panel I get the message 'could not complete child process-so pppon command. I verified my modem by commanding setserial /dev/ttryS2. The uart is 16550A, port 0xd000, IRQ 11, baud_base 115200. So now what? Thanks, Larry

Hello, In wvdial.conf I have [Dialup ZnetCom]. In Larry-Evolution-Edit-Preferences-Receive email I have provider=ZnetCom and user name=larrys-ca66(dialup user name) and password. When I go to System-Administration-Network Device Control and click on Activate I hear the modem dialing. When I go to Evolution and click on 'send/receive' my emails are downloaded from ZnetCom. However, when I log in to Christine and go to Evolution and click on 'send'receive' I get the message 'Error while fetching mail-Host lookup failed:ZnetCom:name or service not known'. I think I should make these changes, 1)in wvdial.conf change[Dialup ZnetCom] to [Dialup znet.com], 2)In Christine-Evolution-Edit-Preferences-Receive email change provider=ZnetCom to znet.com and change user name from larrys-ca66(dialup user name) to chrissla66(webmail user name). Please advise, ,thanks,, Larry

Hello, I changed wvdial.conf to [Dialer znet.com] and changed to Evolution-Edit-Preferencs-Network to znet.com. Now,when I click on the Evoluution icon and the modem has connected the send/receive icon is not highlighted and I have to go to File and click on 'offline' to highlight the send/receive icon and then I can receive emails. How can I get Evolution to automatically come up in the offline mode?

Also, when I go to Larry Evolution I can click on an email message title and It highlights the title, then I can either delete the message or double left click to view the message contents. When I go to Christine Evolution and click on a message title the message contents appear. How do I change this configuration so that when Christine clicks on a message title the message connntents co not appear. Thanks, Larry .

Hello, I have a problem, part one, after bootup when I go to firefox the message 'cannot browse firefox because firefox is in the offline mode'. When I go to File amd click on online firefox works, part two, when I go to Evolution the Send/\Receive is not hightlighted. When I go to File and click on offline then the Send/Receive icon is hightlighted and I can send and receive email. Is there some setting in bootup or ifcfg that sets both of these modes? Thanks, Larry
