Add/Remove Software empty
Hello everyone,
I have a Fedora 10 and installed it on VMware. Whenever I try to access the add/remove software nothing happens. Even if I waited so long. this is a fresh install by the way on VMware-workstation-5.5.1-19175.
So what I did is to wait 24hrs to finish downloading Fedora 11, yes I downloaded the newer version thinking that my copy might have suffered some sort of problem. Then I installed the Fedora 11 on VMware-workstation-5.5.1-19175, still, same problem arose.
So I thought the culprit was vmware, so I went to their site and downloaded the latest trial version, then I installed Fedora 11, STILL the add/remove software is empty! nothing's in there as in.
On installation, I made sure that the repository thinggy update was checked but still the add/remove software is still empty.
Please note that I can browse the internet using Fedora on vmware which means that there is an internet connection.
BTW, I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security, I even tried disabling the firewall then finally turning off the entire KIS suite to no vain. My windows firewall is turned off too.
I also downloaded OpenSUSE 11 but it runs slow on my machine, Fedora is way much faster (both on gnome).
So can someone please tell me what's going on? Why is my add/remove software empty?

I have experienced that with un-registered redhat system.
However have you tired to use this command?
system-config-packages
btw you can do pretty much everything with yum to remove, search and install packages.

I'm just a newbie. I'm not yet much familiar with commands so I think I'm gonna be needing a graphical user interface for quite a while...
I haven't tried that command, I'm again re-installing Fedora on VMware for i messed up my previous installation. Will try that as soon as the installation is complete.
BTW, my settings on VMware used to be Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5 64bit then further research i read somewhere that he's using Other Linux 2.6.x Kernel 64bit. My copy of Fedora is this one: Fedora-11-x86_64-DVD.iso

open up a terminal then copy and paste this command
I'm guessing you need to right click and open terminal.
system-config-packages
* This will bring up add/remove software
If you are interested in Linux I highly recommend you to watch Redhat classic edition from linuxcbt.com
This will take you from newbie to expert !!

hello, thanks for that link. For the mean time, the command you gave me returned an error
bash: system-config-packages: command not found
I wonder why this is happening, this is a clean install of fedora 10 and 11. both of the same problem. with default configurations.
