You have probably got a faulty memory chip. Get hold of a fedora install disk (or pretty much any Linux distribution install disk), boot up off of it and select the memtest86 option. It'll take some time to run but it will confirm if your memory is broken or not.

memtest86 isn't a Linux tool - it's a memory testing utility. If you have a proprietary operating system install disk, there should also be a version on that.
The steps are simple:
- put the disk into your cd or dvd drive
- boot up off the disk (you may need to make a change in your BIOS or operate a boot up choice menu, depending on your system)
- find the option that allows you to test your memory and select it
- leave until it's done and check any errors.
Can I also ask another thing of you. Communication on this site is exclusively in English, so can you please avoid using 'txt tlk'. We have lots of users who's first language isn't English, and being clear in what you post can be quite important.Linux user #126863 - see http://linuxcounter.net/

Try switching ram positions, also try to boot only with the 512 stick to see what happens.
