    RH Linux installation - ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM Drive issue.

    Hi,

    I have Dell Inspiron 530 machine and trying to load RH Linux 7.2 version for the first time.
    After downloading the ISOs, I have created the CDs and used those CDs for installing Linux.

    This Inspiron desktop has already installed with Windows XP and I am trying to install Linux as dual boot.

    After booting through the Disk-1, I reached to the boot prompt and pressed enter key to move forward the Linuxs installation.
    Then the installation process started and halted at the following driver loading process.

    PLDS DVD+/-RW DH-16A6S, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM Drive.

    I hope this process is looking for some driver and it hasn't proceeded further.

    Can anyone please help and suggest a solution for this. I will appreciate the help.

    RedHat 7.2 is approximately 7 years old. Your best solution is to use the latest Fedora release if you want a desktop distribution from RedHat.
