Update RHEL kernel from 4.6 to 4.8 using yum.

    Hello Friends,
I want to upgrade my RHEL kernel from 4.6 to 4.8. Can anyone help me with it please at the earliest?

Would the command "yum update kernel" be enough to upgrade the kernel?

    # uname -r
    2.6.9-67.ELsmp

    # uname -a
    Linux test03 2.6.9-67.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Nov 7 13:56:44 EST 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

    # cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 6)

    Regards,
    Mahive.

I'm not sure if it would break any dependencies, but you want to install not update kernels as this at least gives you the option to revert to the old one if something does break.
