    System freezes during tape transfer

    Hello,

    I am using RHEL4.U3. I am pulling data off a mammoth tape using

    tar -xvf /dev/st0

    Yet the computer freezes up during the transfer which is usually at the 1.5GB data point.

    Anyone have a clue as to why?

    How long did you wait to see if the freeze was temporary or permanent?
