Hi,
I am new here and I want to know if before installing the Red Hat Entreprise Linux 3.0 operating System I must partition and format the hard drive. What is better to chose a comercial version of Linux or a shared version? Also what backup utility do I have to use when I make a pre-upgrade backup?
Thank you

Welcome to the forums!
The installer will create and format the partitions for you if you want it to do that, or you can create them before hand, and then instruct the installer to use those partitions.oz

Your hard drive will be formatted during the installation.
What's more ,you can ceate partions before you install the Operating System by some tools .
Now,the latest version is Red Hat Enterptise Linux Server 5.4,which you can have a try .
May you good luck.
