    install packages from another pc

    H!!!!

    i own a fedora 10 box running on mercury mother board with amd athlon xp. since I dont have an internet connection at home.. i plan to take my HARD DISK to my office and get the audio/video pluggins installed. This machine runs on pentium 4 with intel orginal board.
    can i do this without much effort ?? will my office motherboard accept my home hard disk easily..

    pls reply fast so that i can do it tomorrow / drop the plan

    This is kind of a crap shoot. Whether or not your system will work depends upon whether or not the hardware is compatible. You are most likely to have problems with the video driver if the office system is using a different video chipset from your home system. First, backup your system drive, then try it. If it works, then fine. If not, then you are probably ok, but having the backup will assure you of that. By a system disc backup, I mean a complete bit image of the disc, stored to an external drive after booting from a linux recovery or live CD/DVD/USB disc.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
