    PHEW:Finally Installed NVIDIA 8600gt drivers

At Last I 've managed after lots of problems to successfully install the Driver for this Nvidia Geforce 8600gt pcie16 video card in Fedora 11.
OK: for lots of people I guess thats easy, but I've messed up the installation so many times, ending up reinstalling it all
Finally after reinstalling it all; I followed the instructions on this web-page exactly
Fedora 11 install Nvidia Driver Kmod-Nvidia at Kernel Hardware(.org), which I cannot post the weblink here (because I am new on this forum) and then at least it worked well enough that the Gui started, and I did not get the flashing screen:
but Stellarium would not run; reporting no accellerated video drivers: I could start the Nvidia control panel though
Assuming I'd got at least part way there I downloaded the nvidia drivers from the nvidia site; went into runlevel3, and installed that driver; went back into runlevel4, and now it all worked AOK! stelarium started & compiz fusion-icon did not produce a blank white screen.

I think perhaps that after I followed the web-page instruction exactly I had done one essential thin which was to install a driver that at least basically worked, as well as blacklisting the nouveau driver: then I installed the series 8 drivers, which were the correct ones.

Perhaps this experience might be helpful to someone else.
