Total noob question re yum/yumex
Hi,
What is rationale behind yum wanting to uninstall almost entire Fedora11 when all I want is to get rid of this or that gnome application?
I was quite surprise that it installed gnome even though I chose KDE only during install to begin with, but when I ask yum to uninstall even something gnome from multimedia package, the list of dependencies is mile long and includes everything down to KDE base.
I would provide examples if you wanted.

A lot depends upon the system components that have a dependency on the thing you want to remove. Please show precisely what you are trying to do.

They can run independently of one another. Some programs may have dependencies from each of gnome and kde. If you don't want gnome, typing, as root, yum remove gnome-* That ought to do it. I did my most recent installation without KDE, and I couldn't be happier with that decision.
