Stuck with "boot: " prompt
Hello All,
When I try to install LINUX... after initrd the system is halting with boot prompt
boot:
no matter what the flavour of the linux is I am facing same problem (suse11.1, fedora11, fedora10) If I try to install in VMWare in windows with the same OS media the installation is smooth..
I am able to boot thru ONLY mint 6 live cd with which i can install it. But the X window system is not working properly.
Please guide me what shud I do when i get this "boot: " prompt and how to proceed and debug anything if necessary.
The flavours of LINUX I have tried were once working fine with my PC.

Tell us about your hardware - make, model, CPU, memory, hard drive type/size, other operating systems installed, etc. You might need to update the BIOS on the machine. In any case, also provide information about some BIOS settings - if the system has SATA drives, is the BIOS configured to emulate ATA/PATA drives or not? How is the USB configured in the BIOS. All this information will help us suggest what you might do to fix this problem.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
