Removing Adobe (Shockwave) Flash Player
Hello.
I am experiencing a problem with Adobe (Schockwave) Flash.
It happened Firefox upgraded itself online to version 3.5.
After finishing a warning message appeared.
It said Flash player was working but should be upgraded for security issues.
A link to the Adobe site was shown. When entering there, version 10.0.32 was suggested.
When consulting Tools -> Complements in Firefox versions 10.0 r12 and 10.0 r22 are shown as installed. Both of them.
So, it may happen a previous upgrade was not made correctly.
So, I downloaded the Flash Plugin package (flash-plugin-10.0.32.18-release.i386.rpm) and installed it.
But a message was displayed saying the package was already installed.
When consulting System -> Administration -> Add/Remove Software there is a row showing Adobe Flash Plugin 10.0.32.18 Fully Supported: Mozilla SeaMonkey 1.0+, Firefox 1.5+, Mozilla 1.7.13+
I suppose it indicates the package is installed.
Noteworthy is I have another computer with the same configuration.
Firefox upgraded itself there too and version installed there is 10.0.32
And it seems to be Firefox is considering Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave Flash are the same thing. I was very confused at the beginning.
I think I have to remove versions r12 and r22.
However, I do not know how to do it.
Any suggestion?

You can simply remove the plugins you don't want from firefox from the Tools->Add-ons list. You can also uninstall them from the system (probably not necessary) with yum. On my system the command to do that would be: yum remove flash-plugin
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

I think the files are located in /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libflash.so or /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflash.so depending on if you use 32 or 64 bit spins.
once you have removed them using yum (as suggested by rubberman) you can double check those directories to make sure they are gone.
I would suggest installing the files manualy if you can, as I've experienced problems before using adobe's repository / RPM files. you can usualy download the .tar file from the same site.
