Remote Desktop Viewing
Hi,
I'm new to Linux. I'm building a 20 PC cluster and have a need to view
the remote desktop of each node from my main PC. My main PC is running
Fedora v12, my nodes are all running Red Hat ver 8.0. Currently I'm not
working on the clustering, I'm just getting the basic networking in place.
I'll then be installing PVM and some other clustering software.
My network is a very simple/small home grown network.
I would line to use a traditional method to access the node desktops.
ssh, xhost exporting the display etc. If possiable. However, I do need reasonable
speed.
QUESTION:
What is the best method and tools to use for this?
Thanks for the help,

If I were building a cluster I would not be putting on any desktop. No real need to and it just takes up resources. I would also suggest that you re-think the OS that you are going to use. RHv8 is older then dirt now days and is no longer being maintained.
If you like RH then take a look at FEDORA or CENTOS
Fedora is the tes bed for Redhat which means it has the latest and greatest. But it also means you have a short life span and must upgrade often to stay on top of things
Centos is build directly from the Redhat SRPMs and follows the life cycle of it's RH sister distro. It is a copy of the Redhat distro.
Back to the cluster. Install CLI (Command Line Interface) only and then SSH into the nodes when needed.

Well, I'm new to linux, I would like to use a remote desktop because I'm trying to make
progress on getting the nodes setup at first.
My nodes are not state of the art new machines, they are older
and will not run F12. but they run RH 8.0 very nice.
I've searched through the forum and cannot find any posts that address my question.
There some that talk about remote desktops but none are really clear.
Several seem to evade the direct question or they are incomplete on the subject.
But thanks anyway.
If there is anyone who knows how to view a remote desktop using SSH, that would be greate !
But I understand if there is not.
Thanks anyway
