Best Linux OS For Clustering ?
Hi,
Could I get some ideas on what people feel is the best OS for Clustering ?
I'm using F12 and PVM, but it's been really hard to get the PVM setup correctly.
There's always some confiugration issue with it.
What direction should I go ? What OS should I try, I thing MPI is not going to
work for my needs, I really liked the way PVM looked. But no matter what I do
I can't get it to run right, and I got lots of knowledge with Linux/Unix etc.
Thanks for the advise.

Bump
Does no one have any experience with clustering on linux ?
I know the openmosix OS is no longer under development ?
I'm using PVM, but it would be nice to have a OS that had
clustering support/features built in.
Is there any OS like that that is still alive ?
Please forgive me and advise if I've posted in the wrong area.
Thanks,

Hello, Areal

We do get "best distro for clustering?" questions now and then but I rarely see members posting about their already built clusters. Having never done it myself, I'd think that best distro for this is much like best distro for other Linux tasks, in that it depends on the user's personal tastes and their hardware.
Hopefully, someone that's already done some clustering will reply soon with some good advise for you. Best of luck with it.oz

Hello ArealPerson ;
How would you like your cluster to function:
Load-Balance or Active/Standby ?
How many nodes are you clustering ?
Is this a production server?
Are you running a network drive to share database between clustered nodes? ( think of SAN or NAS )
Alot of questions you will need to figure out before investing money ...
I would go with Fedora/CentOS OS as it has packages specialized to make your life easier in order to run a cluster./
Also contact me as I can provide you with some links, I can't post them here. sorry
Thank you
