Fedora 12 doesn't detect internal DVD drive

I just installed Fedora 12 from a DVD . The process completed without incident.
I then inserted a DVD into my internal drive and nothing happened.
I then logged out and logged in again as root, and tried again-same result; nothing!
Could it have something to do with the new PolicyKit? I didn't have this problem with Fedora 11.

Since you state "I then inserted a DVD into my internal drive" I'm wondering if this is the same drive you used to install Fedora? or not? Most common problems are bad medium (check the DVD in another computer), bad connections, bad drive. I'd check the DVD on another drive/computer and check the connections which should be easy if it's a Desktop.

If that doesn't help, post back with more info on the hardware.

Yes, it's the same drive. I checked the disk elsewhere and it's fine. I was able to mount the disk manually as follows:
    mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom
However there is no display of the device on the desktop. I have to go to Filesystem to see it.
I'm sure I could live with this, but I'm still curious as to why it doesn't automatically mount and display when I insert a disk as happens in F11. I strongly suspect it has something to do with authorization via PolicyKit.
