Fedora 11 -> 12 preupgrade = anaconda with blank screen?

I used the Preupgrade command to upgrade my Fedora 11 installation to Fedora 12, but when i boot to the "Upgrade to Fedora 12" option in GRUB, Anaconda first starts, then seems to start X and then just hangs in a blank screen. Setting VGA= or Resolution= doesn't make any difference, and setting the Anaconda-option "text" doesn't seem to work. Anyone knows what i've done wrong?

Which Graphics Card do you have? Try xdriver=vesa option in kernel line.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

ATI MOBILITY RADEON AGP 4X. It's a Compaq Presario 2100, you can see its specs here.

    Isn't xdriver=vesa for nVidia cards?

"vesa" is a Generic Driver and works fine for most of Graphics Cards. You are facing Graphics Card problem only and "vesa" should work fine.

Now it actually briefly flashes a cursor(i think it's a cursor), and displays some glitched pixels in the top of the screen... Is there anything else you can do?

Disable kernel mode setting by using nomodeset option.

In case it doesn't work, you have to edit xorg.conf file using LiveCD of any distro.
