Samba is for networking Linux with Windows machines........FTP is for transfering files from one server to another or to your own machine.
Samba
FTPAs the front page at samba.org says, "Samba is an Open Source/Free Software suite that provides seamless file and print services to SMB/CIFS clients." Samba is freely available, unlike other SMB/CIFS implementations, and allows for interoperability between Linux/Unix servers and Windows-based clients.
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to exchange and manipulate files over a TCP/IP based network, such as the Internet.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.
