Installing guest Redhat Linux Enterprise OS on ms virtual server
Hi all
wonder if someone can help me.............
I want to run Red Hat enterprise Linux as a guest OS on windows virtual server.
I have installed MS virtual server and have created a virtual machine (and installed IIS). I'm accessing the virtual machine via the virtual server admin website.
I have the RHEL5 as a iso image on the host computers C drive.
When I try to install the linux guest OS (having pointed the CD/DVD as a fully qualified path to the ISo file) I get the message 'Booting from local disk.......' and it looks like the process has stalled.
Any ideas anyone ?
Thanks

booting from local disk to me would imply that it is trying to boot to a virtual hard disk and not the cdrom drive, you need to make sure that cdrom is set to be booted from first

Hi thanks
it looks like the install is 'losing' the pathname (and hence 'connection') of the iso image file some way into the install.
I've tried from the physical CDROM but it won't work from there

Virtual Server - Use a startup CD or image file to install an operating system
As always, did you run a checksum against the ISO to verify the image is good?
You will probably find better help on using MSFT Virtual Server in a Windows forum.
