    [SOLVED] I can't install FC 11

    Hi everyone

I'm trying to install Fedora 11 (64-bit) but after a small message about ISOLINUX the monitor refreshes and displays the following message:

"Press the <Enter> key to begin the installation process."

At that point the keyboard dies and I can't go any further. I tried 4 different FC11 dvds, also tried different PS2 and USB keyboards but the problem persists.

In another forum a user posted the same problem and someone suggested to install FC 10 first and then upgrade to FC11. I tried that as well with no luck. I can install FC10 with no problems but why not FC11?

It's really strange. Can anyone help me, please? Any suggestions?

    Thank you
    One Love!!!

    Have you tried Fedora 12?

It should have better hardware support and is the latest release.

Yes I tried FC 12 as well. My keyboard still dies after that installation message.

Toggle Legacy USB Support in BIOS.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Thanks for your suggestion Casper but it didn't work.

I'm looking into updating the BIOS now which it will either make things worst or hopefully fix the problem.

    Hello

Problem solved thanks to the Wide World Web and to everyone that provides information.

I updated the BIOS and I managed to install FC11 with no problems at all.

All you have to do is find out who is the manufacturer of your motherboard. Go to their website and download the latest BIOS version. My motherboard is Tyan and I found instructions on how to update the BIOS in their website. I assume every motherboard manufacturer would provide this info in their website.

In my case I had to use 2 floppy disks. One with Win98 (You can create one here: Welcome to the all new AllBootDisks | AllBootDisks - Providing Free Boot Disks from MS-DOS to Windows XP.) and a second one that included the BIOS files (unzipped) from the website. Insert the Win98 Boot disk, reboot the computer hit F5 to make sure no other programs are loaded in the background. You will come to an A: prompt

Next take out the Win98 floppy disk and insert the second floppy that contains the unzipped BIOS files. Type
    Code:
    dir
and hit enter. One of the files is the updated BIOS version. Mine was 2895v106.wph.

    Next I typed
    Code:
    flash 2895v106.wph
and the update started. When it finished I was prompted to press any key to restart the computer. I did that and I got the error:

Error 0251: system CMOS checksum bad-default configuration used. Press F1 to reconfigure or F2 to resume.

Obviously this error was because of the BIOS update but after I hard booted the computer for a second time it worked fine and installed FC11 with no problems.

I hope this can help other people as well.
