Not able to mount linux using vmware:-( Too urgent, do help out friends!!!!
HI Folks,,,
shall explain my problem step by step! so that you all can understand!!
1. Out of 120gb hardisk, i created an 100mb in the first cylinder of the harddisk and installed the "symantec boot magic" for dual boot option after switching on the system.
2. Next 70gb is for windows and installed the same.
3. Rest were for "Linux" !! In which i created on 100mb for "/boot" loader files, then one 1gb for "swap" area and the rest of the memory for "/" mounting point.
4. After all, i installed the "VMWARE" in windows, and while selecting the mount of linux, i selected the respective linux portion, and did the other settings.
5. Once done with this, i powered on the machine in vmware, but it was saying "BTMAGIC" not able to find, install again..
6. Cant we not mount the linux via "vmware" which is installed in windows, as i had used "symantec boot magic" for mounting windows/linux??
Kindly help me out from this situation!!
Thanks in adv folks,

you installed linux in vmware, so it must be run only in vmware
if you wanted a dual boot you should have installed directly to a hard disk
it seems you may have installed on vmware without using a virtual disk based on what you said, but i can't be sure
if you want to dual boot i suggest using grub bootloader

Hello ..
I had created separate partions and installed windows xp and RHEL4 separately into the hardisk..
then used the "symantec boot magic" for booting either of these while switching on the system..
then i installed vmware in windows, and tried accessing my linux, i didnt create as virtual disk,, rather i tried accessing directly my physical disk where i had installed the linux..
kindly do help me out...

Please review the VMware documentation.
The hardware presented to the virtual machine by VMware *is not* the same as the physical hardware of the machine. (Otherwise VM's would not be portable.) Your RHEL install is configured for hardware that is *not* the same as VMware. You have taken an install from one machine and attempted to put the HDD into another machine and turn it on.
