Need Help with FC12 and dial-up modem
Anyone, Anyone, I am very new to Linux, have the Linux bible however am finding it impossible to get online. I have dial-up (Rosewill USB) I just installed FC12. It cannot find the modem. First, do I need a driver, where do I find it. It is not a winmodem. I am very excited to get away from Microsoft and their monopoly but I just need to get online. Can anyone help?
Much Appreciated,
Kim

What software are you using? What steps are you taking?
It's been a while since I tried to use a modem, so I'm rusty, but I know I liked kppp, which is now part of the kdenetwork rpm package. You should be able to access it and it's help manual from the menu:
Internet -> KPPP
A wise choice.

Thanks for responding. I am using the kppp application, I think I have it configured right, I click on the connect button, it brings up a screen that says initializing modem and then it sits there for 30sec. and then the screen disappears. I open the browser and it says I'm not connected. I don't think I have the right modem driver. I ran that program from the linmodem site and it said I should download one of there drivers but I don't see any for fc12. Any ideas? Thanks again!!
