I don't believe Fedora provides installation media for any non x86 architectures except ppc.

VirtualBox does not support non-X86 virtualization.

You need to download the ISO image and burn it to a CD. Then you can boot your Spark/PPC system from the CD and install it.

sparc/ppc are CPU architecture types that are in certain machines, read: sun hardware/mac hardware predominantly and respectively

most virtualization will only run same as host CPU archs, but some don't

I missed the VirtualBox bit on the first posting... doh! Need new glasses I think, and some new brain cells as well.

Anyway, on x86 hosts, you can only run x86 clients w/ VirtualBox, though x86 Solaris works just dandy (I do Solaris kernel driver development that way). However, VirtualBox cannot emulate a different hardware architecture except that it can run 32-bit or 64-bit x86 operating systems on an x86 host. To run a Sparc fedora, you would need to be running Solaris on a Sparc processor as a host, but I'm not sure that Sun/Oracle's virtual server manager will let you do that. Their web site wasn't clear. To run a PPC fedora, you would need a PPC and appropriate virtualization code. Again, you need to do some research about that. In any case, True cross-platform virtualzation is difficult, and probably expensive, and slow.

    Oh..... well dang.

I guess I missed that part of the Virtual Box rules.

so, where do I get a SPARC64 processor machine!

eBay! You should be able to get one there for a reasonable amount of $$. Anysystems.com have good prices and post quite a bit (or used to) on eBay.

you can find a cheap second hand Sun Ultra5 (UltraSparc64 IIi) instead ppc64 are more expansive altough a POWER3 II is a quite old cpu.
