i am wondering if i should get a fedora live cd or live dvd. space isn't a problem for me

The DVD versions of most distributions come with more software, but if you have a fast connection to the web, I'd recommend getting the CD version of whatever distro that you might be interested in, then downloading anything else that you want directly from the package repositories.

Fedora DVD has all the available Desktop Environments and you can test those before installation. You can install all or selective Desktop Environment during installation.
I would recommend DVD because you can test all DEs before installation.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
