    How to install RealGold 10.rpm

My older laptop had Totem installed on it to watch movies. I know the movie industries doctor up the dvds to make it easy to play on Windows, but I want to watch them on my Linux Laptop.

I read a webpage recommending Real Gold 10 so I downloaded it and doubleclicked on it. It said "installed".

I see the green checkmark in the INSTALLED applications, but when double-clicking on RA icon, nothing happens. I uninstalled Totem, still nothing.

How can I make sure it was installed correctly, then how can I open it (just to get to main window).
Also, how do I make RA my default video player.

    I am running Fedora 8 .

    I do take email suggestions.
    Thanks

    Jerry

    1. Don't use proprietary and non-FOSS (free and open source) video players.
    2. Try one of the FOSS players on Linux - for KDE, kaffeine works really great, and vlc will play just about any media type.
    3. RealPlayer will brick your DVD drive if you change region codes too many times.
    4. Make sure you install the dvdcss components on your system - they will enable Linux to play commercial dvd's without the risk of #3. FWIW, vlc will play RealMedia (.rm and .ram) files.

I installed RealPlayer on my CentOS system, and it was nothing but crapware...
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

The few times that I've installed RealPlayer, I've regretted it as well. Mplayer or VLC might be better options for you.
