    Arrow Video Issues

    Hello all,
I'm relatively new to Linux from an administration pov, and I'm working as half teacher / half tech admin at a school because they can't afford to pay someone who actually knows this stuff.

I am having issue with a Foxconn 761GXM2MA-RS2 motherboard, with what I assume is the video driver. Everything looks dandy when booting until the X Window system starts up; at that point, the screen seems to translate some vertical strips of the display output around, so part of the screen gets real fuzzy with the content of the other part.

I am unable to find any Linux drivers for this motherboard, however I may be a bit lucky. Another computer with the same mobo died, so I took the hard drive from that and stuck it in; walla! Functional video..... but no working LAN. Alas.

So I need help in one of two areas; either I need some way of copying over the drivers (which I believe are compiled into the kernel...) or access to the video drivers and info on how to install it.

Sorry for the novel, but thanks for your help!!

    ~Ben

    Welcome to the forums!

Most drivers are already included with the kernel. If you want to copy the drive, you could use an imaging tool like Clonezilla or use the dd command to image the working drive then restore the image to the drive that is not booting. Doing this should work even if the hardware is different as long as the hardware is compatible with Linux.

Please post the contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf here.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
