You need to change the DNS information, so that the name of your website points to the IP of your new server.
If you dont manage your own DNServer, then your provider has a webinterface for DNS changes. You must always face the curtain with a bow.

Hi thanks for your reply.. I'm new to CPanel, is that where I can access the DNS files?

I know what cpanel is, but I dont use it myself, as I dont need it.
Question is:
Do you manage DNS on your own server?
If Yes:
- probably cpanel has a module, that lets you configure it.
- you have to decide, if your DNS stays on the old server or also gets migrated to the new server.
If No:
- Your provider might have a support website, where you can login and modify DNS entries.
- If there is no support website, contact your provider via email or telephone and explain to him, which of your hostnames should have which new IP addressesYou must always face the curtain with a bow.

Hi
I build websites using Moonfruit.com and I'm in the process of doing a website for a company that registered there domain name through Linux, I went to transfer the domain to Moonfruit and they said I would have to goto the registra of Linux to imput the new server name and unlock the domain.
I have never used ccpanel before so this is all new to me. I don't run any DNS servers or anything like that and all the relevant information I guess would be on the company computer I am building a website for.
I thankyou for your help but I am still really lost with this..
Many Thanks
John

oki,
So there is an existing domain.
You want to transfer that domain to Moonfruit.com
To transfer a domain to a new provider, the Administrative Contact of the domain has to contact the old provider and tell them:
"As the admin-c of domain-xyz, I allow a transfer to the new provider Moonfruit.com.
Best Regards,
admin-c"
After that, you can tell them to try and take the domain towards them.
After the domain is under their management, the DNS can me modified to reflect the new IP addresses and therefore point to your new website.Last edited by oz; 03-13-2010 at 02:29 PM. Reason: removed URL

When going on Moonfruit to start the domain transfer a screen appears that says..
''Is your domain name unlocked and ready for transfer? Do you have the authorisation code?
You can unlock your domain and get your authorisation code by going to your current registra and follow their instructions on how to start the transfer.
The tag you will need to use is 'GUNDI' which is the name of our domain provider''
So in order to do this, where do I start or go to? Like I said I am new here but do thankyou millions for helping me???

Actually, the Moonfruit help text tells you exactly where to go and what to do.
You can unlock your domain and get your authorisation code by going to your current registra and follow their instructions on how to start the transfer.
The tag you will need to use is 'GUNDI' which is the name of our domain providerYou must always face the curtain with a bow.
