Hi whenever I boot into my fedora 12 hard drive on my external hard drive instead it shows a grub command line. Any input is welcomed and if you need more info just ask.

Do you have your external drive set ahead of the internal in BIOS?
Are you selecting the drive during boot?
Is Fedora the only OS on the external?
What is on the internal drive?
Where did you install bootloader for Fedora? external root partition? external master boot?
Do you have a Linux CD or your Fedora CD? You can load that and open a terminal, log in as root user and run command: fdisk -l (lower case Letter L) to post your partition information.

Not that I know of. Unless there is a way of saving that as a log onto a usbkey?

This is what I was thinking of. A photo for that purpose is quite novel.
[kurt@Jupiter ~]$ sudo fdisk -l
[sudo] password for kurt:

When you unplug External Disk, does Vista boot up fine?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
