Yum not working
Hi,
Some how yum command is not working....
While trying to use yum...it comes up with an error
"/usr/bin/python: error while loading shared libraries: libpython2.5.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
I tried manually installing yum...after downloading yum..but not able to install..
Any help..

what version of linux are you using? RHEL, fedora 8, 9, 10, 11, 12?
something else?New to the internet, technical forums, or the hacker / open source community??

how long ago did yum stop working for you?
did you update any packages, or change any configs, move / delete any files, or change anything else since then?New to the internet, technical forums, or the hacker / open source community??

Actually,its happening in my friends system...but he says he did not made any changes..the only thing he did was he interrupted the updates that was going on...and when he tried to relaunch the updates it was giving the above mentioned error!!!

maybe, maybe not.
it is more of a shot in the dark.
my next suggestion is to reinstall fedora
yum is probably the most defining aspect of Fedora, with it broken, you just have a seriously gimped system. you could manualy download the rpms and install them, hopefuly fixing it, but it would honestly be better to reinstall. Besides, there were VAST improvements between fedora 10 and fedora 12 (the current version.) fedora 10 is over a year old now, which is a big deal in linux years.New to the internet, technical forums, or the hacker / open source community??
