    Cool windows xp use nis as authentication

    well, i im stuck in a strange problem. i have a nis server and i want it to use it to authenticate users from windows xp clients. is it possible??? if yes how??? i down want to set up a windows ad server.

    Yes it is possible ...
    The keywords you need are:
    samba 3 as pdc (primary domain controller)
    samba 4 ... (still in development)

    Good luck and tell us how you did.

    P.s.:
    I've tryed to install samba 3 as pdc with openldap.
    Have had problems with the synchronization of the windows files (own files, desktop, regestery, etc.) sometimes I just lost some files on the windows computers ...
    And I couldn't figure out how to deactivate that feature!
