Found that Centos 5 won't allow web access if IPv6 is enabled.
Am doing updates now. Maybe when done, IPv6 will be allowed....

Yes. Sure enough. When updates completed and reboot done - firefox would not connect to web.
Enable IPv6 and firefox can connect.
I really do need to get a new magic wand
Centos 5 - the version on my cd - only allows IPv4 and when updated it insists on IPv6 being enabled.

Ok.. we have two wan access points. One is 192.168.1.1 & the other 192.168.1.1
.10 is cheaper but .1 is our mail isp.
I used .10 to do updates and had experience with IPv6 having to be disabled before updates but must be enabled after updates to allow web browsing.
The reset to 192.168.1.1 removed plug from one router to the other and restarted.
Wala.. Now wont work unless IPv6 is disabled.
What is happening here??
Our windows exp pc can switch from one to the other just by changing the default gateway address in the network connection and we are way each time.
Why does linux/centos make such a big deal of the change in gateway and or router??

Typo in Post 3.. Wan access IP's are 192.168.1.10 & 192.168.1.1
Last night new server (proposed) was able to browse web via 192.168.1.1 with IPv6 disabled.
Shut down over night and restarted this morning - no web access.
Verified router working ok by browsing from a pc routed on 192.168.1.1 and cable to adsl (192.168.1.10) removed. Working fine.
Back to centos 5 pc/server to be...
Enabled IPv6, saved and still not working. Restarted network, still not working.
Disabled IPv6 and saved.
Web access allowed.
What is the deal with IPv6?? or is this just some unexplained side issue to a hardware problem.
Network is small. 3 pc's, 2 servers. The old server is turned off and unpluged.
New server (maybe!!!) has one nic 192.168.1.3
attached is network drawing. Hard to see where there can be ip conflicts.
I could install a new os on the pc/server and see if web access is more stable but I have already down loaded updates twice and it would be a shame to have do this a third time when/if I reinstalled centos again.
Downloading is costly here in Papua New Guinea.
Any advice appreciated.
