    Virtual OS behind NAT

    Hello
My first post here in this great forum so bare with me.

I have fedora 12 on a machine running Windows XP virtually. I see that wiondows XP s connection is behind a NAT and linked to a virtual interface on fedora.

I dont want Windows XP behind a NAT but I want it to have a Public IP address. Is this possible ?

How can I achieve this ?

Ps. Netwrok manager is controlling the interfaces on Fedora.

    hi and welcome,

vmware and virtualbox manage the network interfaces themselves.
    Shut down the VM,
    edit it
and switch from NAT to Bridge
    That should do it.

You then need to configure the public IP inside XP.
Out of curiosity, why does it need to be a public IP?
XP would be exposed to the internet, given the connected network is set up correctly.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
