[SOLVED] Default Gnome Panel?
HI - I am running Fedora 12 with Gnome. I stupidly deleted the default Gnome Panel from my desktop! By the 'default' Gnome panel I basically mean the default one that is installed whenever you first install Fedora 12. Can anyone tell me how to get it back? Thanks!

You can create new panels yourself and add any bits you want, but if you want to get back to the default panels installed, then:
- log out
- drop to a text console (CTRL-ALT-F2) and log in.
- rename your .gnome and/or .gnome2 directories in your home directory to something else (e.g. 'mv .gnome2 .gnome2.old').
- log out of your text mode session (CTRL-D)
- return to X/graphical mode (CTRL-ALT-F1) and log in as normal.
Gnome now cannot find your desktop layout, so it will re-create it with the defaults.Linux user #126863 - see http://linuxcounter.net/

Thanks Roxoff, I followed all the steps but that did not work. Instead, was able to install another panel.
However, the real issue is that I want the "Network Manager Applet" in my (new) Panel so I can easily connect to the net. Right now I am using another account which has the Default Gnome Panel, and hence also the "Network Manager Applet". But I'd like to have it back in my original account!
Best.

(Partially) Solved
HI - So I was not able to get my original Panel back. But as I indicated in the earlier post, the main problem I had was not getting the Network Manager Applet in my new panel.
To get it is easy (once you know how!).
Right click in the new panel, then -> "Add to panel..." -> "Notification Area"
(That is not obvious at all).
Thanks.
