    recovery!!

    Hi all,
    2 day's before I lost my /etc/passwd file from my ubuntu desktop now b'coz of that i couldnt able to login my account. so pls tell me how I can recover that file. I tried by using recovery mode during grub loading and still i m not able to login..
    so as soon as poosible please suggest me the steps to recover the file..

    It was two days ago ? Did you continue to run that machine for two days now?
    If you have unmouted it -- you can use HOWTO undelete removed files and directories on an ext3 file system

    Slight possiblity you can also debugfs to recover single file.
    What's your distro and file system ?
