moving home accounts
Hi All, I hope you can help me ....
for various reasons I had to re-install the whole OS on my server, however I got all /home accounts stored somewhere else ( nfs mount) so all home dirs and data are intact, the trick is I need to move them back into ( mount tham ) the new server OS ( RHEL 5.5)... as I need to enable NIS for users to log on this arises afew questions:
1- although I got the /home/dirs and data and can mount them, I would need to recerate the user accounts first with their passwords etc, so NIS can recognize users , am I right ????
2- when creating the accounts, the /home/dirs , will be created, therefore I need to copy every user old files into the new /home/dirs, am I right , or I can create accounts and dirs, them mount the old ones via (nfs) to replace them ?? am I right ???
Can any of you give me a word of advice about what is best ???
Many thanks for your time ...
Mahuro.
