I have a msi cr610 laptop. I installed fedora 13 and tried to access internet but fails. I have wireless internet in my apartment (WAP& WEP). Can I buy a separate usb wireless adapter and plug in. Will it work? Will fedora detect wireless points?

It depends upon the chip set. I have a wifi USB dongle that works with my Dell D630 laptop, although the built-in works just fine also. I got the dongle because it has extended range which is useful upon occasion.
Edit: Oops. Mine's a bluetooth dongle... doh! Haven't used it in awhile. Anyway, it might be a good idea to try it in the store first to see if it detects the store's wifi access points. If so, then it should work just fine.Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

I solved the problem
I solved the problem
I had the same problem yesterday with fedora 13. Today I just bought a belkin wireless G usb adapter aand just plugged into the usb of the laptop. Immediately it detected the internet. It also worked for ubuntu. the cost of the adapter is euros 29.
The details of the adapter are in the following link:
belkin.com/iwcatproductpage.process?product_id=179211
?Yesterday i bought the laptop. newer laptops are 802.11n wireless. most of the laptops cannot use wireless in linux. the drivers are in development. The solution is just to buy a wireless adapter of b or g of belkin F5D7050 which costs euros 29.Last edited by MikeTbob; 06-06-2010 at 03:19 PM. Reason: Removed Bold, Large fonts

Yes, it seems that Belkin dongles are generally quite Linux-friendly, and priced very reasonably.
