    problem starting pc

    Hello everybody,

i've a pc that i can't start because it returns this error:

No filesystem could mount root, tried ext3 ext2
kernel panic - not syncincg: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown - block(3,1)

I've tried to start the pc with a live version (Knoppix) but it returns:

    Can't find knoppix filesystem, sorry
Dropping you to a (very limited) shell

    cat mount umount
    rmmod fsmod

    Anyone have some ideas?

    thanks a lot

    Couple of quick thoughts...

Have you checked your connector cables in your computer? Making sure that the HDD and the optical drives are connected properly?

Have you also tried this Knoppix disc in another computer to make certain that it's a usable burn?

Have you tried a different LiveCD? Again, making certain you have a good burn?

After all of that, would it be possible for you to try to mount your hard drive in another machine?
