    Up to you.
    A directory called download or sources in your $HOME makes sense.
    Sources for source tarballs of course

    I have place it in the root
    and then successfully unpacked it
    but now I want to install ??
    so solud u please help me
    what are the commands for doing this

    I suspected you intend to do a installation via compilation.
    Also, I guess you are quite new to linux.

    May I suggest to install whatever application you need with the package manager?
    A package manager is much easier to handle than installing from source.
