    [SOLVED] VLC Media player not working.

    Hi,
    I'm using fedora 13(64 bit system).
    I had recently installed VLC media player (version:1.0.6).
    which installed properly,without any errors,
    but when i tried to play video files with vlc,its not working,
    Even when i tried to execute vlc using command promt it resulted like this.....

    I sometimes have better luck installing/building VLC from source. You might try that.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
    Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!

    after installing vlc i used the following command once....

    after using this command, i tried executing vlc throuh kernel,

    Yeah. Glad you got it to work. I've had similar problems with installing the packaged ffmpeg on my system. It seems to be related to some of the libraries that I have updated on my system, so recompiling from source makes it use the new libraries and headers. Unfortunately, I can't just remove the packaged version because some of the other video tools I use in packaged form have dependencies on ffmpeg and removing it with the package manager would also remove all the dependent applications (quite a few). As a result, I can either disable ffmpeg in the yum configuration files, or reinstall the compiled version whenever ffmpeg is updated by the package manager... A great big PITA...
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
