joining a network
Hi everyone,
I am relatively new to linux and up till now have had no problems i couldnt solve with it... hoiwever i have recently moved house and am connected to the internet on a winxp os via a levelone WUA 0600 wireless usb adaptor.
ive done a little homework and seen I can install ndiswrapper to try get the adaptor working on my linux computer but have run in to several problems - the main one I cannot get my netbook with linux to connect to the internet via my windows computer. I have set up a bridge on the windows computer - but how do I join it with the linux computer? is it even possible? Im assuming it is!
its an acer aspire one running linpus lite... which I believe is using fedora 8.
I can plug in the usb adaptor to my linux netbook, and when i ask it lsusb - it recognises there is something there. is there a way to get the linux netbook to run and install the software needed on the wireless usb's disc? or is this what i need ndiswrapper for?
thanks in advance for any replies!

Hi and Welcome rshazza

For wireless questions, we usually start by posting all that is asked for here.its an acer aspire one running linpus lite... which I believe is using fedora 8.
I have a hunch though that fedora 8 might be a bit too old for wireless support. But that's just a guess. The best way to know is to give it a try
. I think
Good luck!nujinini

thanks... ok here is what is asked! ( I hope)
its a usb wireless adaptor (levelone wua0600)... the netbook does have wireless capability... when im closer to a router that is normally all i need to connect... however im 100metres away from the router which is in another building - the usb works out of the box with winxp but not linux.
when i type the lsusb command the info for the device is as follows
"Bus 001 Device 003: ID 148f2770 Ralink Technology, Corp."
the kernel is " 2.6.23.91w"
Linpus linux lite v1.0.11E
Fedora release 8 (werewolf)
I cant find any errors in the firmware.
I think this is everything!

I'm not also well versed in wireless issues but if your willing to give it a try, you can post the outputs of the following here and perhaps the gurus can see something that can be of help to you.
Another suggestion is that after you have posted all your outputs...highlight them and then click "#" to wrap them in code.Code:/sbin/lsusb lsmod dmesg uname -r
Good luck!
