    Buffer IO error on Device /dev/sdb

    Hi All,
    I have a one problem when i mapped a SAN to the linux box RHEL 5.3
    i show the following messeage
    Buffer IO error on Device /dev/sdb
    and unable to find it in fdisk -l

    Can somebody help me ?

    You dont provide much information,
    but it sounds like the device sdb was there at a point in time
    and then something/someone forcefully removed it again.

    Possible causes can include:
    - FC cable removed or
    - zoning wrongfully enforced on the switch, so that the hba cannot connect to the disk anymore
    - you mentioned mapping: are you sure, you mapped the disk to the correct hba?
    You must always face the curtain with a bow.

    Hi Irithori,
    I have done zoning successfully also FC cable is not removed.
    It shows in cat /proc/partitions but does not show in fdisk -l
