    Strange keyboard error

    hey all,

    ive installed Scientific Linux 5.5 on my laptop (HP 2045ae) but when i type say a single letter (eg "a") multiple letters appear(eg. "aaaaaaaa") it does this to all i type so i cant log in.

    Ive reinstalled it twice and it does the same thing.

    please help.

    What happens if you install another distribution? Try CentOS 5.5 and see if it does the same thing. Other than the Kerberos / Andrew File System stuff, they are pretty much the same. If that does the same thing, then try something laptop-friendly, such as Ubuntu 9.04 or later. If it still does the same thing, then the computer is not Linux compatible in that it is not handling the keyboard properly - their version of Windows may compensate for that.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
